Toshiba Dynabook R734/K Laptop Specifications and Review in 2022

Nerdizen.xyz — Toshiba Dynabook R734/K is a laptop released around 2015 or 2016 (sorry, because the information I got of this laptop is so little because how old or unpopular this laptop is). I just bought the built-up used of Toshiba Dynabook R734/K this year, and it’s been 6 months since I used it.

Just like I said earlier, whether it’s because Toshiba Dynabook R734/K is too old or because it’s unpopular, the information I can get of this laptop model is so limited even on the official Dynabook website at http://dynabook.com.

I bought a built-up used of Toshiba Dynabook R734/K laptop 6 months ago at one of local online shop platform in my country for IDR 2,850,000 or around USD 190 (1 USD = 15,000 IDR) that has Intel Core i3-4000M processor with 4GB RAM and 120GB SSD storage presented in 13.3 inch display.

There are two stickers placed on my Toshiba Dynabook R734/K laptop when I bought it, it is below the keyboard and the other one is below the laptop that displaying Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 respectively. So I can assume that one of them is the original operating system installed when the laptop is originally released.

Tested Operating System (OS) on my Toshiba Dynabook R734/K

My Toshiba Dynabook R734/K laptop was comes with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OS preinstalled, but later on I tried other OSes, mostly Linux-based and they can be installed and run smoothly too on it such as:

  • Windows 10 Pro Mod by Phoenix Lite OS (TeamOS-HKRG)
  • Linux Mint 20.x
  • Ubuntu 20.x
  • Ubuntu Mate 20.x
  • Lubuntu 20.x
  • Android x86 4.4
  • Bliss OS 11.13
  • Phoenix OS 3.6.1

Before, I even dual booting Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and Linux Mint 20.x and use them as daily drivers. I was using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit for general purpose like writing articles / video editing and Linux Mint for coding.

Toshiba Dynabook R734/K easily upgradable and tweaked

Currently, I am upgraded the RAM of my Toshiba Dynabook R734/K into 8GB. It’s very easy to upgrade this laptop RAM and SSD, all we need to do is just open the smaller one cover under the laptop by unloosing the screws.

Or if we want to uncover whole of the hardware placed under this laptop for example for cleaning or replacing the thermal paste (or maybe more advanced things like fixing stuffs), it can be done also by just unloosing the bigger screws placed on sides under the laptop that will released the big bottom cover of this Toshiba Dynabook R734/K.

Toshiba Dynabook R734/K laptop review in 2022

After 6 months using it, I generally satisfied with my Toshiba Dynabook R734/K laptop. The performance is good and I never experienced lags when using it.

I never use currently most popular and updated software though as for me if my current software is works to get my job done then it is enough, they are such as:

  • * Microsoft Word 2013
  • * Movavi Video Editor Plus 22.1.1
  • * Paint.net
  • Avast Premium Security 21.11 (Used in Windows 10 Pro Mod Phoenix Lite OS)
  • ** Browser: Latest Firefox, Opera or Chrome
  • ** Typora
  • ** Visual Studio Code
  • ** Eclipse

* Used in Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
** Used both in Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and Linux Mint 20.x

Gaming in Toshiba Dynabook R734/K laptop

The SIMS 3 Ultimate Collection screenshot on my Toshiba Dynabook R734/K laptop

Well, although Toshiba Dynabook is indeed not designed for gaming because it only have integrated graphic of Intel HD 4600, I tested some games on it and run smoothly although the graphic setting should be either in low or medium to have a stable 30 or 60 fps (You can watch some of them on my YouTube channel linked below).

The OS I used is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit when tested the games, the games are such as:

  • Fairy Bloom Freesia
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 with Smoke Patch 21 (https://youtu.be/LD3JY5hs6as)
  • The SIMS 2 Ultimate Collection
  • The SIMS 3 Ultimate Collection (https://youtu.be/KTqlUdo5KAI)
  • The SIMS 4 (As of version 1.70). Installed packs: All stuff packs + Get To Work Expansion pack.
  • Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005
  • Need for Speed Most Wanted 2012
  • PCSX2 Emulator (Stable framerate mostly up to 2x resolution)
  • Citra Emulator (Stable framerate mostly up to 2x resolution)
